As of yesterday, it’s been 5 weeks since I've had the operation. I still continue to be amazed at how quickly I've been recovering. It's almost like it never happened. I have a little pain in the sternum area, and still get a bit short of breath after walking up stairs or hills, but other than that I'm feeling great. I've just started to be able to pick up the guitar again, and will be resuming lessons in mid-September. I've also been getting out a lot lately and am even going to the Giants game tomorrow and will try to catch both games of the doubleheader. Before the operation, my cardiologist said he didn’t want me going back to work until I was three months post-op, but when I see him in a couple of weeks, I will see how he feels about me going back in about a month. Hopefully he will also take me of all the medications I'm on and will also clear me to start driving me again. Slowly but surely I feel like I'm starting to get my life back!
I really can’t believe that I am only 3 weeks post operation. I am starting to feel like my old self again. I've been walking about 2-3 miles a day, and it really seems to help. I am sleeping a lot better, and my appetite is coming back. The pain in my sternum has really decreased, although it is making a lot of weird popping noises and sometimes it feels like its shifting where it has been wired back together, but I've been told that this is normal. I still have days where I don't feel so great, but I think that’s because I've over done it the day before, when I forgot what I've been through. So all in all recovery is going pretty good. I've still got two months before I get back to work, so I've got plenty of time to get back to 100%.
