I am way too behind on my pictures/show reviews to give a full review of this show now, but I will say that Mastodon went from being kinda boring to pretty fuckin' mind-blowing during the course of their set. The new record, Crack The Skye is still growing on me, so I was still absorbing it as it was being played in it's entirety. But by the time they tore through some Leviathan material, including an absolutley epic version of "Hearts Alive" I was pretty blown away. More coming soon.....
As far as the pictures, nothing too special I'm afraid. I always have a tough time shooting at The Great American Music Hall, and as cool as the LED video board behind the band was, it was wreaking havoc with my camera. No worries though, I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunities to photograph Mastodon in the future. More pictures and full review coming soon, but in the meantime please check out the reviews of friends Umlaut and Hard Rock Chick. Unlike myself, they have their shit together, and write their reviews the day after the show. One day I hope to get caught up and do the same.
The way you captured the lighting on Bill's mullet is sublime..
