What I coincidence that my first Saturday off in nearly three months just happened to fall on Record Store Day. Luckily my friend Umlaut suggested hitting Amoeba right when they opened, because when we arrived there was already a gaggle of record dorks waiting to bum rush the place in search of what they apparently thought were elusive Jane's Addiction and Bad Religion singles. That was cool with me though, because it took all the attention off of the Slayer "Psychopathy Red" single, which both Umlaut and I made sure to get our hands on. And aside from the Heaven and Hell 7" (which the Amoeba tough guy said they were sold out of, but which I think was never even available at that store) I picked up everything I was looking for-
- Slayer- Psychopathy Red 7"
- The Stooges- 1969 b/w Real Cool Time 7"
- MC5- Kick Out The Jams b/w Motor City Is Burning 7"
- Depeche Mode- Wrong b/w Oh Well 7"
- New Order- Temptation b/w Hurt 7"
- Dandy Warhols- Earth To The Remix E.P. Volume Two CD
After a successful conquest we cruised over to the Irish Bank, for some killer Fish 'N Chip's and a few pints. And as we sat outside and discussed just how awesome the Green Day shows were, and how you suck if you think your too cool to like them, I realized that I gotta start taking more Saturday's off.
