I'm not really sure why, but for some reason I had a hard time getting my bearings in the photo pit for this show, and had a million excuses running through my head as to why; The pit seemed narrower, the lighting seemed darker, there were too many video guys, the band seemed to spend more time on the other side of the stage, I couldn't figure out if I what combination of camera bodies and lenses I wanted to use, etc, etc, etc.... But right before panic set in I realized that making excuses was not going to do me any good, and decided to chill the fuck out, twist on the 70-200mm, ditch the other gear, and wait for the band to come to me.
As was the case the last time I shot Metallica, Kirk seemed to be quite elusive, so I mainly focused on James and Trujillo, while getting the occasional shot of Lars. Read more about the night here.
